If you are using the latest version of Chrome and reached this page, then it means that you also hate the new tab page and tired of looking at GOOGLE everywhere in Chrome. I mean what is the point of having this page when we can directly search from the omnibox, we can't access the apps directly and this "new tab" takes time to load. The "old" new tab page was better than this one. It loads more quickly and still we can access all our apps.
In some previous versions, Chrome had the option to switch back to the old page, but not anymore. We are stuck with this. And when you search for solutions, people will ask you to add some extensions. These extensions may change the new tab page but are far worst than the default one because these are more confusing and use a lot of system memory. So in order to avoid all this, follow my lead.
Alright! Lets Begin.
>> Install this extension (believe me, its better than anything else if you want to match the old page)
>> The best part about this extension is that it is highly customizable. You can change it as you need.
>> Check your new tab page.
>> You can access the options by clicking on the wrench icon on the top-right corner.
>> Add or remove the items you like.
>> When you click on any folder, you will notice the items (bookmarks) drop down. Sometimes these won't fit the screen, like in my case.
>> So in order to fix this add this line to the Custom CSS option in the Advanced menu.

>> You can create a full bookmarks bar effect by moving the "apps" (chrome web store) to the bottom of bookmarks. This will give more room to the bookmarks to fit to a single line.
>> Just go to Settings, uncheck the apps button will hide it. Click on the check button again, but this time apps will appear at the bottom.
>> Here is what I have got in the end.
>> Though setting up this view is not necessary but the aim is to match the "old" new tab page design. You can change the appearance the way you like from the appearance menu.
