Play Unity 3D Games Offline

A very long time ago, I have posted about how to download flash games and play offline, but the time have changed a lot of things. People are switching from flash games to 3D browser based games. Most of these games are made with Unity. If you haven't tried one yet then take a look at these awesome ones here. These are way better than any flash game.
Anyways, did you know that you can also download and play these games even when you are offline? Now you wont need any browser and an internet connection and can keep the games the way you store your other games.

Alright! Lets Begin.

>> First of all, make sure that you have Unity web player. If not then grab it from here. Don't forget to install.

>> Download this application called Uni Player. It is portable, so no need to install. (Strange thing was that I was unable to find it on Google)

>> Now we need some games to run on it.

>> Install this browser plugin for easy downloading of a game. This extension also works on sites with flash games. Jackpot :)

>> Go to any site with Unity 3d games and load a game. You will see a button in the address bar, something like this.

>> Click on this button. You will see a download link above the game.

>> Right click on this download button and Copy link address. Paste this link into your download manager or straight into the new tab of your browser. Your game will be downloaded.

>> This file will have a .unity3d extension.

>> Remember the Uni Player you have downloaded earlier, its time to run it. You will see the main interface like this.

>> Click on File => Open and then select the game or .unity3d file you have just downloaded. Or you can simply drag this .unity3d file into the Uni Player.

>> You will see the loading screen for a while, after that you will see your game.

>> Press F11 for full screen. Use it again to return to the windowed mode.

>> You can click on Tools and select File association. In this way you wont ever have to drag and drop the files into the program. I guess you know what file association means.

>> Enjoy your game.

And that is how Unity Games will take over the Flash Games.

  1. If you already have the Unity3D Webplayer plugin installed then there's not even any need to download that Unity3D game player program. You can just right click the game file and open with Firefox/Chrome etc. Or create a shortcut to the game :)

    1. Yeah, I was thinking the same. But when I do so, the browser opens up a download window, don't know why. So found this alternative. Anyways thanks for the advice :)

    1. You don't need to open it. Just drop it into the Chrome's extension menu.

  3. Hi, I found your blog very helpful (In fact, the only one I found after hours of searching the net :P). But I can't get Contract Wars (a online MMO game) to play. Your trick used with other MMO games, so I think I'm doing something wrong. Can you please send me a .unity3d file of this game to mustahsinice99@gmail.com? I would really appreciate it :) (site here: http://www.kongregate.com/games/tfender/contract-wars) there are other sites that host the game as well, in case games on kongrete are download protected. And oh I have a wi-fi connection so it doesn't matter if the game needs internet to run but I really need a .unity3d file of this game. Btw, awesome blog and thank you.
